Big Sister Little Sister Birthday Party

I finally have the time and energy to sit down and blog about the girls'  birthday party. Let me preface by saying I'm sad I don't have more pictures. I didn't get as many taken as I wanted, and my phone broke which led me to get a new one and I didn't think to back up pictures, so I only have what I posted to   Instagram available, SO sad!!

I had been somewhat planning the girls' birthday party for a few months, but hadn't really gotten serious about it until a few weeks before the actual party. At first, I thought about having two separate parties- quickly realized I was a crazy lady. Then thought about having just a first birthday party for Wren and doing something small for Elle. The more I thought about that, I started to think that Elle might not understand why Wren was having a party and she wasn't. She has been all about birthday parties since we went to one in May. I didn't have the heart to not let her enjoy one. Some might think I'm trying hard to be fair, and that life isn't fair- but part of my parent philosophy, (which is ever evolving), believes in building little spirits not tearing them down. So with that thought in mind, the joint birthday party was decided!

Elle wanted an animal cake and is quite into the zoo, I wanted to do something with sprinkles so my goal was to incorporate the two. Working full-time and raising two littles makes it hard to bring to life every single idea that pops into my head. I had several and had to whittle them down to a few that I thought I could actually make happen. I took Friday off from work and after taking both girls in for their well child check and sending them with Grammy I was off to run a weeks worth of errands in an afternoon's worth of time. After several stops and some late night crafting, everything was ready to go except for food! I made a banner, confetti wall art, and confetti balloons. It was quite adorable if you ask me!

We had family over and some of Elle's sweet friends from church. She was so excited about having friends come over! The little party was so much fun, it was worth every last second I put into it! I was a little embarrassed with how many things the girls got, family and friends did not disappoint, but I remember looking around the room thinking where are we going to put all of these things?? Here are two little girls that will probably never know what it feels like to need, or really want for that matter. We have been very blessed by the Father who provides all things for us, I don't want to forget that, and I want the girls to know that. My goal is to raise these two, sweet babies to be silly, honest, and kind throughout their lives. So, although this party was so much fun, I will be rethinking my party strategy in the future, especially since Elle let me know her favorite part of the party was when everyone was singing to her!
